Age of Consent

about

Probably my favorite song of all time, or, at least, the perfect pop song, with plenty of sugary hooks mixed with a deep undercurrent of sadness. I tried recording this song in my home studio, but it came out sounding lifeless and flat. So, instead, this is a live take, from practice, with my bass player, Derek. It's not a perfect take, and there are things I'd change about it, but I think it captures the energy of the song.

lyrics

Won't you please let me go
These words inside they hurt me so
And I'm not the kind that likes to tell you
Just what you want me to
And you're not the kind who likes to tell me
Just what you want from me

I saw you this morning I thought that you might like to know
I received your message in full a few days ago
I understood every word that it said
And now that I've actually read it you're going to regret

And I'm not the kind that likes to tell you
Just what you want me to
You're not the kind that needs to tell me
About the birds and the bees

Do you find this happens all the time
Crucial point one day becomes a crime
And I'm not the kind that likes to tell you
Just what you want me to
And you're not the kind who likes to tell me

I want you I want you I want you I want you

about

Jesus on the Moon Puyallup, Washington

Jesus on the Moon is a collection of lo-fi songs I've been recording in basements, garages, and bedrooms since 2005. Recently, Derek Reed joined the ranks and, with the help of a drum machine, we've started to bring the songs to the stage.
